Our Process for Water Audits

Whether you are looking to improve the management of water resources at one of your sites or several, our goal is to uncover new solutions that maximize water efficiency, reduce overall cost, and sustainably impact your environmental footprint.

Below will provide you with the key elements that we undergo when conducting our water audit services:

1- Identify Key Drivers & Info Gathering

Veolia will schedule discovery meetings with key stakeholders at your organization to understand both their goals and challenges. During this step, our team of experienced water audit professionals will work to identify the key areas that need to be evaluated and develop a data-gathering plan that includes water sampling, water usage calculation and lab analysis to obtain a more comprehensive overview of each water system within the facility. These initial discovery steps of our water audit services help ensure the success of the overall water audit by identifying the most costly, least efficient, or problematic areas in the plant to focus on.

Common Key Drivers:

  • OPEX Savings
  • Water Scarcity Issues
  • Regulatory / Discharge Issues
  • Facility Expansion
  • Future-proofing
  • Corporate Sustainability Goals
  • Product Quality/Safety

2 - 360° Best Practice Evaluation and Site Audit

Using auditing methodologies inspired by the ISO (International Standards Organization) for energy and environmental management, we will look to validate the information and data that was gathered in the previous stage and provide a comprehensive "water balance."

This will provide the auditors and the client a very detailed water map that will show not only how water is used throughout the facility but also identify the specific characteristics of the water at the various stages. By calculating water usage, we can provide a better approach for improving water conservation moving forward.

3 - Client Review of Options

Veolia Water Technologies will take the information it gathered from key stakeholders and from its site audits and propose several options that directly correlate to solving challenges that were identified at the beginning of the process.

These recommendations can include items such as:

  • Basic process changes
  • Chemical service programs
  • Equipment
  • Operational changes
  • Creative water reuse ideas
  • And more...

This step in the water audit process will allow the client to review the particular enhancement options, the expected ROI (Return on Investment), and the timeline for implementation of the program.

4 - Project Implementation

After reviewing the various options to help the business meet its water management objectives, Veolia is experienced in project execution of the recommended solutions. Veolia is also experienced in helping clients meet their long-term water goals by executing capital and operational enhancements in a series of stages.

Most importantly, Veolia's goal is to develop transparent and long-term relationships with its clients to ensure that projects such as our water audit services produce the financial and operational results that they expect.
