Sriracha, Thailand, Oct. 12, 2012 - Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies has presented Slot-Nankai, a supplier and fabricator of pressure vessels and modules, an award for safety practices during the fabrication of a key project. Slot-Nankai achieved more than 100,000 man-hours without an accident for a project in the Australian mining industry which will utilize Veolia's HPD evaporation and crystallization technology to process mine water inventory.
The award was presented at the Slot-Nankai facility in Thailand on September 20th in recognition of the milestone. Following the awards ceremony, lunch was served to the more than 400 employees who work at the location to celebrate the accomplishment.
The award also recognized the outstanding fabrication effort demonstrated by Slot-Nankai due to the complexity of the work specific to this project. The entire system is modularized with all utilities, cabling, access steel and piping in order to ship into Australia as complete as possible. This is due to the remote location of the job site and the need to minimize the field installation effort.
"This is a testament to the Veolia Project Team's focus on safety and efforts to raise the awareness of safe work practices among our fabricators all around the world," remarked Veolia Project Manager, Bob Patchak from the ceremony, "The module shop and their three main subcontractors for piping, electrical, and insulation work have just reached the 100,000 man-hour milestone without any accidents and will remain committed to the same level of safety practices as they complete the project."
The majority of the equipment fabrication and construction for this project is being performed in Thailand. All vessels and modules will be completed and shipped to the job site in Australia in the fourth quarter of 2012.
