Minimizing Disposal Costs, While Producing Class A Biosolids in Wyandotte, Michigan

Downriver Utility Wastewater Authority (DUWA) owned Downriver Wastewater Treatment Facility (DWTF), located in Wyandotte along the Detroit River, selects Veolia Water Technologies (dba Kruger) to supply BioCon™ thermal drying system for solids management.

The BioCon™ thermal sludge drying system was selected based on Veolia’s extensive experience, installation base and industry expertise. BioCon™ offers Class A Biosolids for beneficial use and volume reduction to minimize disposal cost for DUWA.

DUWA will utilize two (2) BioCon™ belt dyers, capable of treating 175 wet tons per days of undigested sludge. The facility will produce Class A biosolids using this proven drying technology in addition to reducing volume of solids to dispose by 90 percent.
