 Interagua - Municipal

Guayaquil, Ecuador's largest city, has been seeing a rise in frequent heavy rainfall, partly due to its warm tropical climate and partly due to the impact of climate change. Although Interagua, the local water utility, has been continuously working to mitigate flooding issues, the city has faced significant challenges stemming from the aging sewage system's complexity. In a bid to address this challenge, they invested in the sewer module of [Hubgrade Performance](/en/hubgrade-digital-solutions "Hubgrade digital solutions") — our digital solution, utilizing available real-time data including rainfall, water levels, flow data, and stormwater forecasting. This module has enhanced the sewer system's ability to manage increased flow volumes and helps protect neighborhoods from [flooding](/en/applications/stormwater-management "Stormwater management") while decarbonizing the operations thanks to network work optimization.
