## Through Veolia’s wide range of products and water treatment expertise, membrane systems can be integrated to remove unwanted particles and create a high quality permeate for a variety of uses.



 

 

 



Depending on your filtration needs, specific particles can be targeted and removed based on size, down to the molecular level. This is accomplished through the use of membranes, semi-permeable barriers that filter out unwanted particles when water is passed through or across its pores.

### There are a wide variety of membrane systems that provide various levels of filtration.

#### Various Types of Membrane Filtration Systems

- **Microfiltration:** Pore size of 0.03-10 micrometers; filters sand, silt, clay, large bacteria
- **Ultrafiltration:** Pore size of 2-100 nanometers; filters bacteria and some viruses and humic materials
- **Nanofiltration:** Pore size of roughly 1 nanometer; filters virtually all bacteria, viruses, and humic materials
- **Reverse Osmosis:** Pore size less than 1 nanometer; filters virtually all inorganic contaminants
