Groundwater Remediation

Veolia offers a full range of technologies for treatment of groundwater with a variety of characteristics.

Oil-Water Separation

Corrugated Plate Separators (CPI) - CPI are used for oil/water separation in a large range of applications. The plate pack is customizable in regard to inclination,plate spacing and material. Typical removal rates for CPI technology range from 50 to >90% of oil and 80 to 90% of total suspended solids (TSS).

Induced Gas Flotation (IGF) - Veolia's AutoFlot® is a horizontal induced gas flotation system designed to effectively remove free and emulsified oil and suspended solids from water. Available in both mechanical and hydraulic designs, the AutoFlot typically achieves >95% oil removal.

Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) - Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) technology uses microbubbles to lift suspended solids and oil to the top surface while allowing heavy solids to settle for removal. Removal efficiency of Veolia's DAF systems is superior to gravity-based systems.

Nutshell Filters - Veolia's Power Clean® nutshell filters are unparalleled in removing suspended solids and hydrocarbons from water. The pecan/walnut shell media is easily cleaned, rarely needs replenishing, and does not require chemical addition during filtration.

Macro Porous Polymer Extraction (MPPE) - MPPE removes dissolved and dispersed hydrocarbons from water with efficiencies of 99.9999% down to below ppb level by means of extraction in an MPP bed. This technology is a highly effective, fully automated, remote controlled and guaranteed method.

Veolia also provides conventional equipment such as skim tanks for oil removal applications. 

Biological Treatment

AnoxKaldnes™ Moving Bed Biofilm Reactors (MBBR) - Veolia's AnoxKaldnes MBBR technology is a flexible, small-footprint process that can be applied in a variety of configurations to achieve nitrification/denitrification, removing organics, toxicity, cyanide and selenium.

NEOSEP™ Immersed Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) - The NEOSEP process combines activated sludge treatment with immersed membrane filtration in a compact design, producing very high quality water suitable for discharge, irrigation or reuse.

Biothane® Anaerobic Technologies - Veolia's Biothane solutions include a variety of reactors including the Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Bed (UASB), Expanded Granular Sludge Bed (EGSB) and the Memthane® Anaerobic Membrane Bioreactor. Where applicable, these anaerobic technologies are used to turn wastewater into energy, significantly reducing operating costs.

Veolia has extensive experience in water reuse technologies, from simple sand filtration systems to more complex soultions incorporating ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, and our HPD® evaporation and crystallization technologies.
